The famous international artist Carla Tolomeo is one of the artists who first decided to provide their artworks with the new Digital Certificate of ArtID.

This is fundamental to give value to our work and the artworks distinguishing them without uncertainties from potential copies as my artworks can obtain the Digitale Certificate only through my consent.”

Among the artists of her generation, Carla Tolomeo has a “special” personality and her history has developed through out standing studies and insights which brought her to undertake painting, sculpture and writing, as to demonstrate that there is no real defined limit among ali expressions of Art. She has been painting and exhibiting her works until 1997, in Italy, in Europe and in the United States.
After her last exhibition in London, “Tribute to Leonardo”, at the Leicester’s Galleries, she has astonished her collectors creating her famous Sculptured Chairs, areaI apology of artistic amusement which has been immediately welcome by the world, so tired of intellectualisms and sophistications. As she writes herself in the presentation to her first catalogue dedicated to Sculptures, her own philosophy is the change-transformation from a simple object to an object of art, starting from the most common and dai/y one: the Chair itself. Standing on her life experience, her learning, her large studies on Borges, her study on Japanese Painting Ukuyo-e and her passed memoryof her ancient guide, Giorgio de Chirico, her skills succeed in transforming it into a Totem, a jerk of fishes, an enormous flower, into something magic which springs from newly encountered chi/dhood, with the cleverness of a well experienced life.
Carla Tolomeo started to sculpt marble in 2003 in Pietrasanta, Toscany. Since the beginning her sculptures have shown the same lightness of being, the same challenge with space and gravity already present in her previous creations. She manages to conceive columns of moons or dolphins, which even though they start from a concrete reference they reach pure abstraction. She favors white marble as it looses stillness and acquires rhythm and harmony in its new dimension. Her Totem are owned in private collections in Italy as well as in the United States. One of her Column of Dolphins has been assigned to the city of Forte dei Marmi in Toscany. It is ten meters tall and it his crafted with the unique marble of Carrara. The Gutlich collection counts five Totems, the Moons are in the Ripasarti Collection and the Fishes in the Hubert Collection. Bronze pieces have been created in a limited series from some of the marble sculptures. The artist works in Uruguay (La Barra- Punta de l’Este), in the Philippine (Luzon Island) and in Italy in the laboratory of Nicola Stagetti in Pietrasanta. Currently Carla Tolomeo is working on six new sculptures on the moon theme and one new Dolphin Column which will be placed in Florence
Back in 1970 Tolomeo started to work on ceramic in Albissola, but only in 2006 with the help and guidance of Master Poggi in the historic Bottega San Giorgio, where Fontana, Lam e Scanavino worked, she personally imagined and produced a fabulous set of ceramics inspired by El manual de Zoologia Fantastica di Borges. These are unique and extraordinary pieces of immense suggestion that reveal the great manual skills and fantasy of the artist. Impressive are the series of Dragons, Pelicans and Rhinos. These creations are presently exhibited at the Galleria Contini. Some of the arts in ceramic have been created in bronze as well, with an astonishing result.
Recently Carla Tolomeo has been willing to measure herself with new materials and new means of expression. She has hence created for Gobbetto a big moon in fiberglass, exposed at Montecarlo Yacht Club. Exploring this material she has reached a very high visual impact with a variety of new sculptures. The result is breathtaking and the artist is now drawing new sketches to be realized entirely in resin in order to fully capture the enormous possibilities of plasticity.
